Eye is one of the greatest gift people should always protect because with eyes they can appreciate how beautiful this world is. To keep your eyes healthy is necessary and one of the ways to do it is by paying attention on foods you consume. Foods that contain of vitamin A are apparently not the only beneficial resource to support your eyes health because fruits like oranges and guavas are rich of vitamin C that helps preventing eye disease like cataract.

From experience, you must be noticed that most people claim carrots and tomatoes are the best source of fruits which are advantageous for eyes since they are good resource for vitamin A. however, other vitamins than vitamin A is proven effective to support eyes health and these vitamins include vitamin C and vitamin E.

Based on the studies, vitamin A gained from carrots and tomatoes is useful to avoid the eyes from getting dried or known as Xerophthalmia. In fact, vitamin A slows down cataract development. You can obtain vitamin A from other foods like liver, butter, and foods that contain of carotene.

Types of carotenoid like Lutein and zeaxanthin also help protecting and supporting retina health. You can get them from green vegetables like spinach. Moreover, corn is also another good source of lutein. As good as vitamin A, vitamin C contains of antioxidant which works effectively for retina and strengthens the optical nerve and prevent cataract.

For people who are smoking, drinking alcohol, or those who have diabetes are suggested to consume higher amount of vitamin C. Compared to other people who are not drinking, smoking or don’t have diabetes, these people have low amount of vitamin C in their body. Not only coming from oranges, vitamin C is easily found in guava, berries, paprika, potatoes, and other tropical fruits.

Fortunately, there is one mineral which is essentially helping you to keep your eyes healthy called selenium. Selenium helps the body by absorbing vitamin E effectively that human body will be able to create its own antioxidant. Another mineral is Zinc that helps absorbing vitamin A excellently and reducing the amount of free radical inside your body.

More importantly, Zinc also helps protecting eyes from night blindness. As suggestion, you can get vitamin E, selenium and Zinc together from wheat flour, beans, and seafood. So, to keep your eyes healthy and keep its best condition, make sure that you consume adequate vitamin A, vitamin E, and vitamin C start from now.

Prevention is better than cure .This is applicable for eye health too. Eye care is better than eye cure. So do take good care of your eyes and I think this can be done by taking in lot of vitamins especially vitamin A into your diet.
